This is quite a nice simplification of the limits of our knowledge of truth and lies.

See Paths of Deceit to note how self-deception plays critical life roles, or belief-in-belief can lead to moving into whole territories of deceit.

Also, look at the Internet Court of Lies to consider how we can temper beliefs that are harmful in the media and more historical context in natural philosophy. This also points out how words without questions can harm as you note.
