This is good.
What is keeping me from getting depressed (or happy for that matter) is thinking through how to shore up our laws and education.
I spent the last few years just on understanding the science of lies because it was considered a poison topic for academic science. But with virtually no literature I made a lot of rapid progress, I got to name the science, Mendaciology, and learned enough to have made a few discoveries that were latent in the data we had already collected.
This article, like virtually all others I read about the problems with our government, start with noting the lies, but then doing nothing about them. Just giving up.
You missed that the lies are central. President and General George Washington's first biographer (contemporaneous) understood this. We should have a GW Liar test (I have written in huge detail how to do this). It involves no filling out of applications or taking tests by a candidate for elected or appointed office.
GW's farewell address is only about lies by extremes of faction and party motivated by revenge.
ONLY.
Read it carefully. His solution is simple: don't tolerate lying.
So here is my stab with how to have hope you can be happy with, assuming enough people actually care anymore, and the dictatorship fails to take over our Republic.
This also includes some of the science behind the reasoning.
