This "any direction" is a LIE. N95 is filtering on inhalation, not exhalation. See the specification. This is why you see doctors with N95's and a surgical mask (exhalation) over it.
Also, this should mention that these filters by 3M are electrostatic to achieve their effect...which is good but again there are standards such as the MERV standards that people should know. 3M air filters for HVAC are the same (blown microfiber electrostatic) material and can be cut up for cheap filters with gaitors etc. If you wash them they tend to lose their electrostatic charge, and their effectiveness -- Downey is bad...static cloth is good. The same static that attracts your hair attracts the virus.
The N95 specification is done by the CDC.
