Nice article.

An interesting book in this regard is Tuxedo Park

https://www.amazon.com/Tuxedo-Park-Street-Science-Changed/dp/0684872889/

Here you have the history of Wall Street being created out of the Age of Reason. Science. These were a few individuals that brought electrification and other major infrastructure to the USA and the world. Certainly, these were the most upper class people. But they also out-worked others with the express intent of making the lives of everyone better by dedication to scientific truth. The whole title to the book is:

"Tuxedo Park : A Wall Street Tycoon and the Secret Palace of Science That Changed the Course of World War II"

And yes, Einstein and others regularly spent time at the Secret Palace of Science in Tuxedo Park.

This Tycoon self-made billionaire was Loomis who established Wall Street and then the Palace of Science, quit his money making, and changed lives of everyone on the planet, positively, and purely, with his science.

We have instances of such individuals today. Instead of wanting more 'leaders' perhaps we should be wanting more 'individuals' who live for the quest for truth and can, and want to, parlay that into the benefits of truth to everybody.

I knew Steve Jobs. In stark contrast to what the popular media said of him, he was one of the finest engineers in the world, by far. I used to say that "every atom" of one of his computers was carefully placed by Steve. Every atom. That described him well.

A smidgeon of hope in a hopeless world?
