My basic reaction to this view is to ask what do you mean by the term "mathematics"? I kind of like the view expressed here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Definitions_of_mathematics

Which basically says that it is up for discussion since no one seems to agree.

However, in my world of computational cognitive neuroscience, the world of Descartes ('I think therefore I am') mathematics is simply ways to arrange predications such that truth or lies (or, if you want to mangle the term "lies" use the falsehood "falsehoods") contrast cognized truth with cognized deceit, and seen most clearly if you define mathematics as an extension of logic through the primitive brain computation of countless billions of computationally correct predications between your ears. In most forms that mathematics take, the added predications have to do with seeking predicated equivalence by predicated counting things of predicated equivalence. To this I would agree that Fascism or Authoritarianism seeks to limit the scope of predicated truth by denying discussion of predicated deceit.

I personally think that Chaplin said it best in one very straightforward speech about mathematics: "They Lie!" :
