I suggest listening to Charlie Chaplin on this subject. You might be amazed at how the conclusions have not changed since 1940..when democracy was already lost and liberty was gone and taken by The Great Dictator.
Most important, the problem with letting people who lie all the time take control by not lying.
With modern science we know that if you factually lie all the time, you soon learn how to be a dictator who lies with truths to take the Liberty of others to himself.
