I didn't say it was so great that the rich own, manage, and dictate the means of ..production...

First, you presuppose that they do. And second you think I am saying that is great. Both are lies as partial truths.

Actually, if you are a contractor, you are in business for yourself and practicing capitalism. A lot of people just want to work jobs. Many many capitalists are not rich. Indeed, the vast majority of small stores etc. just make a living.

If you do not know it, realize that Teddy Roosevelt (yes that really rich guy) was a Progressive in every sense. He attacked big business through monopoly laws which he forced through. Large companies must be limited by regulation and if they do not obey, they can be split up and made small. This is so no large company can control the means of production.

That said, if you have a lot of money, you do have an advantage whether it was money you earned working for others, working for yourself, or inherited. Doctors and Lawyers often do not work for themselves but some of those get paid millions and millions of dollars a year. Same for actors.

My argument is that capitalism is a tool, and it can be misused like any other. Further, I would argue on the side of Teddy Roosevelt, that if a company misuses the tool they should be held accountable by the government and proper law.

Today our legal system has been failing us. And it is going to get worse unless they wake up to their responsibility under the Constitution, its laws, and norms. If you want to blame someone, blame them.

Please read the referenced book. It really is an excellent description of the really serious abuses of capitalism that have taken place over the last sixty years or so. That were NEVER PROSECUTED.
